Chairman Silajdžić reminded that less than three months ago, he had met with Darwish during his stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina, when he was given an award “Bosanski stećak”, which is being presented by the BiH Writers’ Association for ten years for literary work.
BiH Presidency Chairman Dr Haris Silajdžić has today signed the Book of Sorrow on occasion of the death of Palestinian poet and writer Mahmoud Darwish. Chairman Silajdžić stressed out that Darwish’s departure meant a loss of a great artist for the Arabic literature and a great humanist for the world.
Chairman Silajdžić reminded that less than three months ago, he had met with Darwish during his stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina, when he was given an award “Bosanski stećak”, which is being presented by the BiH Writers’ Association for ten years for literary work. Chairman Silajdžić has today written in the Book of Sorrow that Darwish’s open and sober view on world developments had inspired millions of people, and his works would continue to do the same in the decades to come.
