During the meeting, the conversationalists also exchanged information in reference to implementation of the Basic Agreement between the Holy See and Bosnia and Herzegovina and Dr Silajdžić expressed readiness of the Bosnia and Herzegovina’s competent institutions to take concrete steps in implementation of the Agreement.

Apostle Nuncio Archbishop Alessandro D’Errico presented BiH Presidency Chairman Dr Haris Silajdžić with the decoration of Pope Benedict XVI - Medal with the Star of the Order of Pius XII.
“Mr. President, I am happy that this ceremony is taking place in this important moment for the country’s history, when Bosnia and Herzegovina is about to sign the Stabilization and Association Agreement with the European Union” said Archbishop Alessandro D’Errico.
During the meeting, the conversationalists also exchanged information in reference to implementation of the Basic Agreement between the Holy See and Bosnia and Herzegovina and Dr Silajdžić expressed readiness of the Bosnia and Herzegovina’s competent institutions to take concrete steps in implementation of the Agreement.
The Apostle Nuncio also expressed the Holy See’s support toward the Bosnia and Herzegovina integration in the European Union emphasizing “My wish is the implementation of the Basic Agreement and the European integration process contributing to the development of an even better future of social harmony, peace and progress for the peoples living together in this area, as well as the full integration in the structures of the European continent that Bosnia and Herzegovina belongs to due to its geography and history.”
At the end of the meeting, Dr Silajdžić thanked the Apostle Nuncio for the Pope’s medal and the Holy See’s wholehearted intercession for the progress of Bosnia and Herzegovina on its way to the European Union full-fledged membership.
